NSHS Auditorium Seating Upgrade

The Viking Alumni and Friends Association and the Performing Arts Programs of North Salem High School are partnering to bring about a much needed upgrade in our beautiful auditorium. North is the only school in our district without modern, cushioned seats, and we hope to rectify that. We love the historic nature of our original 1937 wooden chairs, but we also recognize that they deserve to retire with grace, as beautiful replacements are installed.

The 'New' Look

Our new seats will be cushioned and wider than our current chairs. The upholstery will be a deep purple that will look stunning in our space. The armrests will be a warm wood, and the underside and backs will be a durable dark grey. Our end stanchions are molded in the "Nostalgia" style and will be reminiscent of our current end stanchions.

There will also be new and better ADA seating!

The rendering seen here gives you an idea of what the space will look like!

Sponsor a Chair

This project will be funded almost entirely through community donations. We also hope to utilize creative fundraising means and will apply for available grants.

All three phases of chair replacement will cost $200,000 but we just need to reach $70,000 in order to begin phase 1: the center.

If you chose to sponsor a chair for $250 your name, business, note, or the name of a loved one can be etched into a donor plate on the chair.

We are also of course taking any smaller donations folks would like to apply to this enormous project- many small gifts make one beautiful auditorium!

We are pleased to announce that the Viking Association has already given $10,000 for this project and has pledged to match the next $10,000!
